Navigating the Chapters of Resonant’s History
1999
Resonant Solutions was established in 1999 by Graham Davies as an engineering consulting firm focusing on specialised engineering services, which included finite element, computational fluid and vibration analyses, among others.
2002
In 2002 Graham decided to emigrate to Australia and sold the company to Chris Coetzee and Nico Barnard.
2003 - 2007
From 2003 to 2007, Chris & Nico expanded Resonant’s services to include the design & development of specialised air pollution control equipment.
2007
In 2007, Olof Vorster joined Resonant, and a new entity, Resonant Environmental Technologies (RET), was established. RET paved the way for Resonant’s consulting services to expand into the manufacturing of specialised air pollution control equipment.
2007
Resonant Automation was also established in 2007 to expand the equipment offering to include electrical and instrumentation equipment design and supply.
2010
In 2010, Luther Els joined Resonant, and with his comprehensive air pollution control process design experience, further expanded Resonant’s capabilities into offering turnkey air pollution control solutions, with a specific focus on local and global ferroalloy markets.
2014
Resonant entered the industrial fan market in 2014 through the acquisition of Universal Fans as an add-on product that forms an integral part of any air pollution control system. Chris Briers currently heads the company as general manager.
2014
Resonant Nuteq was established in 2014 when Pierre van Deventer and Johann Venter joined, adding a deep understanding of specialised engineering design and construction of highly hazardous facilities and the development of new technologies and first-of-a-kind processing units.
2015
In 2015, Resonant entered the bulk liquid storage and terminal automation industry through an agency agreement to represent Honeywell in sub-Saharan Africa. John Moodie partnered with Resonant to establish Universal Measurement and Control.
2016
In 2016, Resonant Industrial was established to further extend Resonant’s capabilities into asset management and is headed by Abraham Groenewald, with his strong analytical experience.
2019
In 2019, Resonant further expanded its services by establishing Resonant Amaprhojekthi with a focus on EPC project execution. Hamilton Maseko joined the team bringing vast experience in project management and instrumentation linked with an extensive network in the Petrochemical industry.
2019
In 2019, Resonant bought 10 000m2 premises, of which 5000m2 under the roof, to expand the fan manufacturing business.
2019
In 2019, Resonant entered the green/renewable energy market by partnering with EUD Holdings in Germany on the turnaround and optimisation of various green energy projects.
2023
In 2023, Resonant acquired the process technologies, design and manufacturing capabilities of the companies owned by Rian Steyn. The patented fuel production technologies to produce SAF, Diesel, Gasoline and middle distillates from bio- and industrial waste gas streams are grouped into the newly formed renewable fuels company Resonant New Fuels. The manufacturing of specialised process equipment and pressure vessels are grouped into the manufacturing company, Universal Process Equipment that has its manufacturing base in Olifantsfontein at the Universal Fans factory.
2024
Rheinmetall is acquiring a 51% stake in Resonant Holdings (Pty) Ltd and forming new joint venture Rheinmetall Resonant South Africa, aiming to expand both companies’ capabilities in plant engineering for chemical and explosives production. This acquisition, pending regulatory approvals, will integrate Resonant’s expertise and workforce with Rheinmetall’s global reach, enhancing their ability to design, construct, and operate advanced production facilities. The partnership will drive innovation, efficiency, and access to new markets, reinforcing their position in the engineering and defence industries.
